Alejandro Junger, MD
Dr. Alejandro Junger graduated from Medical school in Uruguay. He did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at NYU Medical Center and completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular diseases at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. While in India he lead a team of diverse practitioners who integrated the healing powers of Eastern Medicine with conventional medicine. He returned to the U.S. and practiced cardiology in several hospitals throughout the Palm Springs area, where he became familiar with fasting and detoxification at the world renowned We Care Center. He later became their medical director. Today he practices in the New York City and Los Angeles areas. In Manhattan he works with Dr. Frank Lipman and has been recruited to start an Integrative Medical Center at Lenox Hill Hospital. In Santa Monica he is affiliated with the Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine where he integrates the care of his patients who travel between the two coasts.
Dr. Junger is a live food expert and a practitioner of Open Minded Medicine. Open Minded Medicine is a term that he coined to describe his practice of bringing both eastern and western medicines together to best serve patients and their families.
Dr. Junger has been a guest on the Martha Stewart Show, advised Donna Karan and her Urban Zen Initiative and he’s the author of the book CLEAN, which will be published by Harper Collins in May 2009.
